National Toss Away the 'Could Haves' and 'Should Haves' Day

Updated: Sep 2, 2022

July 16, 2022 is National Toss Away the "Could Haves" and "Should Haves" day. Author and motivational speaker Martha J. Ross-Rodgers created this holiday to encourage people to let the past go and live in the now.

All you have to do to celebrate this holiday is take a few minutes to write down your regrets on a piece of paper... then toss it away or burn it! Think about all the "should haves" you hear in your life, from yourself or those around you, and the "could haves" you may dwell on yourself. Today is the day to throw those regrets away!

Join Marth Ross Rodgers in making your own resolution to live in the present:

“From this day forward, I choose not to live in the past. The past is history that I cannot change. I can do something about the present; I choose to live in the present.”

Think about what you want for yourself in the present, and embrace life to the fullest! Set realistic goals for your future. You can take control of your own life, and avoid looking back with regret ever again.

Many of us have regrets when it comes to our professional lives or current career path. Nurses, you can find resources on LeadNursingForward.org to help you make those professional dreams a reality, whatever it is that you want to pursue.
